Home Design beds sold at Walmart, Wayfair, Overstock recalled

More than 580,000 beds sold at retailers including Walmart, Wayfair and Overstock.com have been recalled over reports that they break during use.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a recall notice posted Thursday that upholstered platform bed frames made by Home Design Inc. “can sag or collapse during use, posing fall and injury hazards to consumers.”

The Silver Lake, Ind.-based furniture wholesaler said it received 128 reports of the beds breaking, including 36 unspecified injuries.

The faulty beds were sold on Walmart, Wayfair and Overstock’s respective websites from July 2018 through November 2023 for between $100 and $300, according to the CPSC.

On Home Design Inc.’s website, the company urges consumers to “immediately stop using the recalled beds and contact Home Design Inc. for a free repair kit.”

Customers are asked to send Home Design “a photo of the bed or a copy of the proof of purchase” as well as “a photo of the law label on the back of the headrest.”
